VERY LAX, INCONSIDERATE & ANNOYING SEAGATE. Why aren't these things STANDARDISED and MADE TO BE CONVENIENT INSTEAD OF PISSING OFF THE CONSUMER THE MINUTE IT'S SOLD?!! Secondly I cannot delete any files from Mac either? I've tried dragging to desktop but it won't allow me to delete them?Īny suggestion gratefully recieved! All I want it to have it working on BOTH COMPUTER LIKE I SPECIFIED!! I WOULD'VE BOUGHT SOME OTHER BRAND IF I'D HAVE KNOWN IT WOULD BE SO **bleep**ING AKWARD. The problem I am experiencing is with trying to save anything on to it whilst plugged into the Mac, It won'tlet me drop/save items whatsoever. The first time I used my external hard drive was on PC, everything copied fine and was then moved over to my MAC easy-peasy. It has given me nothing but trouble ever since! Firstly, when I bought the gosh darn thing I specifically asked the sales advisors whether it was COMPATIBLE WITH BOTH MAC & PC!!! I was reassured that it WAS and so ended up buying it. Hi there, I use a MacbookPro and I recently bought 1TB Seagate External Hardrive and have deeply regretted it. But I'd rather that GUID partitioning worked!

Does anybody know the details of what this driver do and what problem it is trying to solve? And by the way, how to un-install it?įor the time being, I am hoping that partitioning the drive with APM will suffice to use it interchangeable with thunderbolt and USB/Firewire. Seagate has a "Thunderbolt adapter driver" that appears pertinent to the problems I am observing.

Thru trial and error, I found that when initializing the drive with APM (Apple Partition Map), the drive appears to be recognized ok interchangeably under Thunderbolt and Firewire/USB. In reverse, if initializing the drive under USB/Firewire, and then attaching it via Thunderbolt the drive again is not recognized properly. it all worked fine!īut when attaching the drive via a Firewire/USB 2.0 adapter (same with the USB 3 adapter) the drive is not recognized by OS X. Upon arrival and connecting it via Thunderbolt, I initialized the drive with a GUID partition table and with MacOS Extended (Journaled) file system.

but I have OLDER applications - even Grand Prix Legends (pre-2000) running perfectly - without any issues - using these settings. In trying to install Seagate Dashboard to use my Seagate Backup Plus on my computer running Windows 7, ( It previously installed fine on my computer running Vista), I get the following message: The compatibility settings are always worth trying - both for the installer and sometimes the apps (obviously) - There is only ONE app I have that doesn't work in Windows 10 (or 8 or 7 - with compatibility settings) - an old F1 game app. Not sure which installer app they are using specifically (didn't look) - but this is a common issue. I DID NOT set the executable (dashboard.exe - in Program Files (x86)/Seagate etc folder) to compatibility mode - nor any file other than the installer package - The app, therefore, is NOT running in compatibility mode - and working It seems the issue is likely installer related and not application related I did 2 tests - one w/o reboot - one after a reboot - did a small file backup - about 1Gb of files
